A new major update is available for Undergrowth!

"BZZT-BZZT! For the…full experience…"

The 2.1 update for Undergrowth adds FULL compatibility for toggle-able audio effects during in-game calls. Want the extra immersion of slightly crunchy Walkie conversations? Feel free to keep the static turned on. Prefer hearing mysterious phone calls without any post-processing? No worries; just turn the static effect off!

  • All Walkie and phone calls are now compatible with the "Radio Static" toggle in the Options menu.
  • Back-end update: autovoice has been completely removed from all of Arcs 1 and 2.

Is it "zee" or "zed?"

v2.1 also makes a smattering of script fixes to Arc 1 and Arc 2 to ensure formatting consistency between content added in 1.0 and 2.0.
This also means that, although place names will be spelled one way for consistency (e.g. "Research Centre"), characters now always use spellings appropriate for their region in dialogue—so Aston will recognise you, but Morgan will recognize you.

  • Standardized spellings for named locations.
  • Ensured all characters use internally-consistent spellings (e.g. no mixed "realise"/"realize" from the same character between Arcs).
  • Checked that characters use regionally-consistent internal quotes (double-quotes for Americans, single-quotes for Europeans—even the Europeans who sound American).

Move over; it's crowded!

Certain scenes have had their character placements altered slightly so that sprites have a little more visual "breathing room."

  • Adjusted sprite placement in certain scenes from v1.0 so that characters do not feel overly cramped.
  • Characters no longer have "the zoomies" whilst moving across the screen.

We are authorized to begin work on the third and final development burst of Undergrowth—with full SAG-AFTRA protections!

  • Release of the 3.0 version of the game is currently slated for Q4 2025.

Miscellaneous Updates

  • Adjusted the timing of the opening scene so that Hilda's dialogue syncs correctly with the music effect.
  • Altered certain scene transitions that felt overly fast.
  • Ensured all "404'd Days" added in v2.0 now display date labels as normal.
  • Ensured Pearl's conditionals work as normal.
  • Updated the Music Room to include tracks added in v2.0.
  • Added an ellipsis to Morgan's famous "Snowmobile?" line.
  • Reduced the number of Walkie stutters/avoidable jumps in and out of its UI.
